blasters
There are various blasters available
on the internet, varying from £10 up to £200. A popular method is to buy one of
the toy blasters made by Hasbro, then making them more realistic by modifying
them by cutting/sticking/painting. The Stormtrooper E-11 rifles used in the films
were based upon the Stirling machine gun, heavily modded to make them
outer-spacey.
Ebay provided me with a number of of
options, so I purchased 2 which looked quite realistic, and one to modify.
A Hasbro blaster that holds a can of silly string. Doesn't
need much doing to it except for painting the red mouth of the barrel, and
rubbing down then painting black the 'STAR WARS' lettering on the side.
A 'droid blaster', this is ready-weathered with a red-lit tube
in the barrel and blaster noises. I might take the batteries out !
This one is a standard Hasbro blaster that can be adapted to
look like the E-11, I will be buying the parts from
Doopy's World and adding them in the future. Hopefully, it will end up
looking like the one on the right.
And then I get this one, a small-size DH-17, which I will use to give to kids rather than letting
them have mine, as it's getting a bit battered.
This
one is a painted and weathered kid's toy (the build-your-own blaster, which
comes in 3 sections). Looks really good, and comes apart
easily for transportation. Love the faux wood stock especially. The blue light
and sounds are nice extras, but I will probably use it with them off.
An E-11 blaster (on the stand) and a DL-44. The 44 I will probably use with
the x-wing pilot, unless I buy a proper DH-17 at some point.
Another
conversion of the build-your-own blaster, 4 sections that clip together like the
one above. No faux wood stock, the lights and sounds all work. I have added a
plastic insert into the scope to replicate a targeting sight.
Yet another conversion of the build-your-own, this time with a long barrel added
to look like a sniper rifle.
Another E-11, slightly different to the
others with the stock folding out.
