At-AT driver
I fancied another part-armoured
suit, I like the mobility allowed by not having full armour, and I like the TIE
helmet, so I thought that I would go for this (picture taken once again from the
501st CRL).
I ordered the armour parts and
helmet from Andy (DA) as I like his TIE one. It's basically the same helmet with
a few add-ons and (obviously) a different colour scheme. The chest and back boxes from another
member of the Facebook group "the shed of glittering delights". And the
flight suit from an on-line store.
The armour as shown is white (left), but this is supposedly
because the pictures were taken using flash, bleaching the grey plastic to
white. So Andy is creating the hard armour parts in a grey plastic (right). Of
course, it won't match the toys etc, but it will be more screen accurate, which
is the yardstick.
First up, after ordering all the hard parts, is a new home for
the boy when he arrives. A nice big box like the others have, decorated as
required. And a flight suit from the usual suppliers. Now to wait.....
So, the helmet arrives from Andy Rodgers, and after finding it
(3 days after it was delivered, as the courier had helpfully left it in a locked
shed, long story) I opened the box and my heart sank. Either Andy's standards
were slipping, or someone had been playing football with the box.
Luckily, Andy offered his usual 90-day, no quibbles guarantee, so I shipped the
bits back down south for him to fix.
