These pictures were labelled 1979 con, but I don't recall
going to that one, and I can't find a book, which I'm sure I
would have bought. Negatives are in a bad state, I've
cleaned them up the best I can.

Panopticon 78
was my first and only journey into things Dr. Who, although I had
been to several group meetings in a pub in Blackfriars, London.
Organised by the committee from the Dr Who
Appreciation Society (DWAS), this was held at the Imperial College,
London.
2 doctors were in attendance, Jon Pertwee and Tom
Baker. Only 2 if you ignore the many dressed up as their favourite,
including the first 2 doctors. There were also many other guests, as
follows :
Nicholas Courtney : The Brigadier
Frazer Hines : Jamie
Jon Levene : Sgt Benton
Richard Franklin : Cpt Yates
K9 (John Leeson)
Carole Ann Ford : Susan
Wendy Padbury : Zoe
Elisabeth Sladen : Sarah-Jane
Mary Tamm : Romana
plus many others from the other side of the
camera.
It was quite novel to attend a convention without
being involved, unlike my two previous excursions. I was free to
roam around, meet other fans and collect a few autographs, although
why Liz felt the need to sign my book I will probably never know.
She was the girlfriend of Jeremy Bentham, who I met through friends,
and they were both involved in the event organisation. (They are in
the picture of the 77 con committee).
Unfortunately, I was left dismayed by the
reaction to Intercon, and I never attended another convention. A
shame, because I met loads of good people, and made many friends
that I would/should have stayed in touch with.
